American Cemetery - Margraten

Over 8,000 American soldiers are buried at the only American cemetery in the Netherlands, and 1,722 missing soldiers are commemorated on the Walls of the Missing. Most of them perished during the liberation of the southeast of the Netherlands in World War II and the advance through Germany.


The cemetery is visible from far and wide thanks to a thirty-meter-high tower. The cemetery grounds have been made available to the United States government for perpetual use.
