Cycle through the heart of the Heuvelland region and discover the gems of South Limburg: charming Vijlen, lively Bocholtz, Simpelveld, and Ubachsberg with the Fromberg winery, and on to Wijlre, Gulpen, and Teuven in Belgium. Enjoy the breathtaking views, shady groves, and terraces.

Mergelland Cycling Route South Loop (65.0 km)
The Mergelland Route winds through the hilly landscape of South Limburg. The entire cycling route is over 155 km long, but you can also opt for a shorter route.
This southern loop of approximately 65km is perfect for a day trip. Be sure to choose an e-bike, as there are plenty of climbs and descents along the way. Highlights along the way include the Drielandenpunt (Three-Country Point), karting in Vaals, stately castles, and countless half-timbered houses, all set against the backdrop of stunning views of the rolling hills.
In Vijlen, you'll discover the St. Martinus vineyard, which has been named "Best Vineyard in the Netherlands" several times. The famous "Millions Line" needs no further explanation. The junction system makes finding your way easy.

If you're looking for a cycling route through authentic South Limburg, you've found it. This route takes you through the unique hilly landscape, a veritable Arcadia with its expansive meadows and fields on sun-drenched hills. Wayside crosses and chapels, charming villages with half-timbered farmhouses, the winding Geul valley, and a variety of magnificent castles are all part of this route.


Mergelland route Eijsden-Margaten (34.3km)
The Mergelland Hoen Route offers a wealth of beauty for all cyclists. Just across the Belgian border, you'll cycle over rolling hills adorned with expansive grasslands and swathes of lush forest. Passing through the haunting Hoogcruts Monastery and the quintessential Limburg villages of Terlinden, Banholt, and Sint Geertruid, you'll reach the graceful castle in Mheer and return to Noorbeek. Along the way, you'll find a wide selection of terraces and cafes where you can take a break.
